The first meeting of the ODG was convened in May 2009 to share information on issues in the Ongar area and to develop joint initiatives. Following consultation with the local community later that year, the group agreed to develop a strategy of work for the Ongar area.

Since forming the group have:

·        Organised  a community consultation (in partnership with FCC);

·        Organised a community day (in partnership with FCC);

·        Established a small grants scheme for local groups (funded through FCC);

·        Met with local elected representatives outlining the issues and challenges facing the community of Ongar;

·        Attended a deputation meeting with FCC to discuss a number a serious issues facing Ongar residents;

·        Continued to support the Ongar Community Centre

Erin Go Bragh GAA Club

Just to let you know that from 4th October, we will be coaching GAA in St. Benedict’s School Hall. Specifically, we will be coaching nursery level kids (4 – 6 year olds) from 5 – 6pm every Wednesday. Like any club, we rely heavily on the help of the parents. At nursery level, you don’t have to have to have played GAA before to help out at nursery because the emphasis is on fun, while picking up the basic skills of GAA (catching, kicking and hand-passing).

Please see below schedule of training times for other teams training in St. Benedict’s. Our U’7’s and U’8’s will be training in Mary Mother of Hope School Hall.

I would be grateful if you could let the resident’s association know of our intentions and if you could see would there be any parents available to give a hand every Wednesday from 5 – 6pm. Again, no experience in GAA is required. We will provide all equipment for the nursery including hula hoops and tunnels etc.

If you want to discuss anything further with me, please do not hesitate to contact me at (087) 2353600.

Kind Regards

John McLeod
